the research center for taiwanese-funded enterprise was established in december 2005 in the school of public policy & management, tsinghua university. it is an interdisciplinary research center for the cross-strait enterprise management theory and economic policy.
under the overall goal of serving the peaceful and integrated development of cross-strait relations, the center mainly engages in research in the following areas: the first is to study cross-strait economic policies, taiwanese investment and its operational models; the second is to study the business philosophy, management models and development trends of taiwanese enterprises, the third is to study the local investment environment and serve the development of taiwanese-funded enterprises.
the center has done the following jobs. firstly, since establishment, the center has actively organized internal teachers, postdoctoral fellows, research assistants, and external scholars to conduct case studies on taiwanese-funded enterprises in various industries, and get many achievements. this main publications include: lianhua electronics—one of the twin towers of taiwan's wafer industry (huawen publishing house, april 2003), case study of taiwanese-funded enterprises (tsinghua university press, may 2005), investment promotion—methods and strategies for economic cooperation with taiwan (tsinghua university press, august 2006), 20 years of cross-strait economic relations (people's publishing house, may 2006), wang yongqing's road to creating a kingdom of petrochemical industry (tsinghua university press, january 2007), the way to win—success stories of taiwanese enterprises (tsinghua university press, december 2008), and comparative research on the cross-strait electronic information industry (nankai university press, october 2015).
secondly, the center conducts long-term on-site investigations on the investment environments and development problems of taiwanese-funded enterprises and provides a series of suggestions. in 2010, the center conducted a survey on the development status of the ict industry in the beijing-tianjin region, chengdu-chongqing region, and the yangtze river delta region, summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of taiwanese businesses in the mainland's ict industry. in 2011, the center conducted the research on the transformation, upgrading, and localization of taiwanese-funded enterprises in the yangtze river delta, pearl river delta, and the economic zone on the west coast of the taiwan strait. in 2017, the center conducted research on the integrated circuit industry in kunshan, and provided a research report “kunshan-taiwan integrated circuit semiconductor industry cooperation”. in 2023, the center conducted research on the development and transformation and upgrading of taiwanese-funded enterprises in nanjing, suzhou, dongguan and shenzhen.
thirdly, the center host policy seminars on the development of taiwanese-funded enterprises. in july 2006, the center established the taiwan business development advisory committee to discuss the problems and policies in the development of taiwanese-funded enterprise in the of mainland china.
